Brock Lesnar won the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match, pulling double duty for the night. This is rare since the Beast Incarnate seldom wrestles once per show with his part-time schedule. The company had plans in line for Lesnar to win that were locked into place weeks ago.

A report came out eariler which stated that Matt Riddle was the orginal plan to win the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match. We have been told that this is not the case. As exciting as it would be to see the Original Bro win the Royal Rumble match, this was not a plan.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that the report about plans for Riddle to win the Royal Rumble match “is not true.” The writers were told, at least, “two weeks prior to the Royal Rumble” that the winner was going to be Brock Lesnar.

The creative team was not told of the Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley finish, but they “were told Brock was winning the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match.” That should hopefully clear up any conjecture that Lesnar winning the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match was a last minute decision.

Shane McMahon brought lot of heat on himself because of how he booked the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match. We were told that he played with “many” finishes, but they all included Brock Lesnar winning the big match. This was the plan from the time they locked things into place.
