Cody Rhodes Confirms He Is Working For AEW Without A Contract

Cody Rhodes is one of the mainstays of AEW television and an integral part of the company behind the scenes as well. Rhodes has certainly honed his craft over the years in numerous ways.

For the past few months, Cody Rhodes has been on the receiving end of a lot of hate from fans. Fans showered boos on him during every appearance and called for him to turn heel.

As reported earlier, it was said that Cody Rhodes is apparently working as a free agent as his contract with AEW had retired last year. Rhodes was accused of a publicity stunt with his contract situation as well.

While speaking during a backstage interview after AEW Dynamite ended, Cody Rhodes revealed that he really is not contracted to the company and is working on a handshake deal.

“There are so many elephants in the room. This is an insane week in wrestling. People think the Sean Ross [Sapp] story is BS. No, it’s not. I’m working here without a contract. I’m not even on payroll anymore. I’m working here on a handshake deal, that is 100% legitimate.”

Fans have already started speculating whether his free agency status means Cody Rhodes will appear during the Royal Rumble match. However, that is unlikely to happen as WWE will not be working with AEW anytime soon.
