The Inner Circle was formed during the debut episode of AEW Dynamite. Nothing good can last forever, and those members have seemingly found their own paths in the company since then.

Santana and Ortiz made their debut in AEW back in 2019 and since then they have been one of the mainstays of AEW’s tag team division. They have had numerous great matches against the likes of The Young Bucks, FTR and other tag teams. It seems Jim Cornette isn’t a fan of their current booking in AEW.

Proud N Powerful’s booking leaves much to be desired for many fans, as they feel the tag team has only been given any focus while they competed as part of The Inner Circle. In fact, they have yet to win the AEW Tag Team Championships

The Inner Circle proved to be one of the best factions in recent memory, but it seems they might have overstayed their welcome. While speaking with Stephanie Chase, Santana and Ortiz talked about breaking up the Inner Circle. They admitted the group had discussed splitting up in the past as well.

“We had done so much and we were, we had proven to be very successful at being the group and the group. I just felt like it was time for all of us, you know, to go our separate ways and start establishing our own selves and whatever we’ll continue doing and stuff like that. And then maybe eventually down the line we could bring it back together for a major moment and, you know, rock & roll again.

I always feel like the group is cool, we’ve proven that the group can be successful, but now let’s prove that each of us can be successful on our own. Almost like the Wu-Tang Clan, you know? They were such a great band together, you know, so successful together. When they broke up and went their own separate ways, they all became successful, so I think that was more my mentality.”

We will have to wait and see whether Santana and Ortiz will be given the focus they deserve eventually as fans simply want to see them win the AEW Tag Team Championships.
