Aliyah has been with WWE since 2015. The young superstar was seldom used on television for her first four years with the company. In 2020, Aliyah became a regular on NXT TV. The road since then has been long and hard.

WWE moved Aliyah from NXT to the main roster in the Fall of 2021. Other than some matches on Main Event, she was seldom used. Aliyah is now set to compete in her first Royal Rumble match after finally debuting on SmackDown in November.

Aliyah recalled her long wait with Denise Salcedo for The Sportster. The thought of leaving NXT behind made her extremely sad. It took a long time to finally stick with the main roster.

“I think it was a week or two weeks after that I was booked to do dark matches, so I did the dark match one week and I got invited back, and I just kept getting invited back for dark matches, dark matches, dark matches…. Eventually the contract was offered and it was there… haven’t looked back since.

I had no idea that I was clueless, to say the least {laughs}… I found out the day before TV {NXT}… I just remember my drive that morning to the Performance Center to the shoot, I was just in tears, like I could not stop crying because I couldn’t fathom that that was the last drive I was gonna make there, little did I know now that I am still training there, I am still going {laughs} but back then I just remember the whole drive I was just bawling.”

Aliyah has been making some moves since her call up. On the January 14th Smackdown, she defeated Natalya in 3.17 seconds to make herself a world record holder. Now she is focused on competing in the women’s Royal Rumble and earning a trip to WrestleMania.
