Big E’s journey to the top of WWE has been one full of hurdles and obstacles at every step of the way. After a solid run in NXT, Big E made his way to the main roster but was eventually lost in the shuffle. It seems Big E was set to win at WWE day 1 as well before sudden changes in plans.

At the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view, Big E defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. In the end, Brock Lesnar defeated Big E to become the new WWE Champion.

According to Fightful, talents were informed prior to the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view that the WWE Championship match would be changing. It was said that Big E was likely set to win the match. However, Roman Reigns’ testing positive for COVID-19 likely changed that.

”Talent was informed mid-afternoon yesterday that the WWE Championship match would be changing, but they hadn’t been told of the original plans for a winner before that. Those that we spoke to believe Big E was set to win at Day 1, but that’s hardly confirmed.”

We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Big E as it is likely he will get a rematch for the WWE Championship.
