Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE television started new long term storyline for Roman Reigns. Things shifted in a huge way this week as Roman Reigns turned on Paul Heyman and kicked his Wise Man to the curb. Unlike many stories in WWE, they are using some long term planning in this instance.

Ringside News asked around about the angle concerning Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman this week. That segment came after Reigns took week off from television. As Ringside News exclusively reported, that break was planned for months.

The writing team was told that the closing segment of SmackDown was set to include some big “shifts,” but no other information was given to them. This falls in line with Roman Reigns’ typical booking as “Roman, Brock, and Heyman keep their business tight with Vince McMahon.”

Moreover, were were told by a tenured member of the creative team that, “they’ve known for weeks because the scene in LA where Heyman snapped Brock into Beast Mode was described as ‘the turning point while Roman is away for a week’ so this was not a last minute decision.”

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are booked for a multi-match program. We will have to see how things play out in this situation, but the Head of the Table’s story remains the best thing going on the blue brand right now.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
