Xia Li has bided her time in NXT, waiting for the call to join the WWE main roster. After nearly three years in the developmental brand, her time is coming soon. The company has been running comic book-like vignettes foretelling Xia’s arrival.
“She’s been very friendly with me. Even at the very beginning. I don’t speak English very well and she still invited me to her house for a holiday party to celebrate together. She’s already a top superstar. She’s not in my class. So that’s why I’m very grateful she can do this for me. She’s the best.
What she does on TV is amazing. She’s my idol in wrestling, and I want to be like her,”
Xia Li hasn’t wrestled on television since the July 20th NXT when she fought Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s title. She has wrestled several dark matches, but hasn’t done so since mid-October. Tonight, she will finally make her big debut.
Xia impressed WWE scouts during a tryout in China and was brought in for the first Mae Young Classic. She was the first Chinese woman to ever wrestle in WWE. She was drafted to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft.
