Monday Night RAW

This week’s RAW opens with a recap of the feud between Big E, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens.

Rollins is backstage and he welcomes us to the show. He says last week Owens connived his way into the title match at Day 1, but tonight Owens is stuck inside a steel cage with Big E and he’ll enjoy every second of them tearing each other apart. And then, at Day 1, we will usher in a new era when he takes his rightful place as WWE Champion.

Big E is backstage as well and he says he’s been to Hell and back to be WWE Champion and tonight will be no different. Tonight there will be no shortcuts or easy way out, and he will punish Kevin Owens. We go live to the arena and the steel cage is already surrounding the ring and out comes Big E.

Becky Lynch is interviewed backstage. She says his is a really big night… for Liv Morgan. She won her match last week, sucker-punched her the week before, and the week before that she countered the Manhandle Slam. So all the momentum is with Liv, as well as the fans. But the real battle will be in Liv’s head. Can she overcome her doubt? The reality is nobody really wants Liv to win the title and the fans eventually turn on everyone who gets success, so Liv is in the perfect position because she’ll never be Champion. The Miz is in the ring for a new edition of Miz TV. He says Maryse would be here but she doesn’t come to places like Memphis. Miz then introduces the Rated-R Supertar.

Edge says he meant his compliments last week but Miz says he can’t help but wonder if the Rated-R Superstar has lost his…edge. He says the old Edge would have speared him out of his $9000 shoes but this Edge seems mentally weak. Edge can’t believe he paid $9000 for his ugly shoes. He says don’t mistake kindness for weakness, then asks Miz what the deal is.

Miz says he doesn’t need Edge’s kidnness now, he needed it in 2006 when everything he said or did was wrong. He didn’t fit the mould and he was ostricised. Everything was busy protecting their spot, including Edge. He was a star from reality TV that people should have looked out for, but he doesn’t care or need it the kindness now.

Edge says Miz clearly forgets way back then when he pulled him aside and told him to weather the storm and he’d make it. But Miz brushed him off. He went through the same things seven years prior and if anyone had pulled him aside he would have damn sure listened. Edge say the difference is, Miz blames everyone else for his shortcomings and people think the same of him now as they did in 2006: he’s an ass.

Miz says he’s a hypocrite and vulnerable. He’s surpassed Edge in-and-out of the ring. And he can’t think of a better way to usher in the new year, than beating Edge at Day 1. Edge says he’s on, but they’re both in the ring in Memphis right now, so let’s go for it. The crowd start cheering but Miz says no. And it’s not because he’s afraid… Edge feigns a punch and Miz falls on his ass. Edge laughs and leaves Miz fuming.

Liv Morgan is interviwed backstage. Liv says she heard what Becky had to say earlier and she wasn’t entirely wrong. She did get the better of her the past few weeks, and peole are on her side, but what she got wrong is that people do want to see her win. Becky usually gets her way but tonight she’s going to do everything in her power to get the RAW Women’s Championship.
