Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly made what most assume are their last major appearances for NXT at Sunday night’s WarGames pay-per-view. O’Reilly was involved in an angle that will lead to a cage match with Von Wagner on Tuesday night’s NXT 2.0, which many believe will be his last for WWE. Gargano competed in the men’s WarGames match where Team Black and Gold was defeated by Team 2.0.

According to Fightful Select, talent in NXT isn’t so quick to jump to conclusions. Many wrestlers for the brand have yet to say their goodbyes. They believe there’s still a chance the two might sign. WWE would prefer to keep both wrestlers on board.

The report noted that a higher-up in WWE said that the worst-case scenario is that even if the company signed both Gargano and O’Reilly, one of them would take some time off. The vibe among NXT staff is that both contracts will expire. They believe at least one of the wrestlers will leave.

Fans were surprised to see Kyle O’Reilly placed into a post-match turn angle with Von Wagner after Imperium defeated the duo for the NXT Tag Team Championships. The cage match was set up in a backstage interview with O’Reilly during the show. We’ll have a good idea about his status if he loses or is otherwise squashed to write him out of the show.

The prevailing belief among those we spoke to is that they expect both contracts to expire, and at least one to outright leave the company after exploring their options.

Johnny Gargano spoke to the crowd after losing his WarGames match. He thanked the fans for their support. He said he was beat up and tired. Gargano also said he’d be back Tuesday night to reveal his plans.

Gargano joined NXT in 2015. He teamed with and then feuded against Tommaso Ciampa and was at one point NXT Champion. Kyle O’Reilly may be looking to rejoin his former tag team partner Bobby Fish in All Elite Wrestling. We’ll know more after Tuesday night’s episode of NXT 2.0.
