Fans Shouted The R-Word At Cody Rhodes During AEW Dynamite Main Event

Cody Rhodes is the EVP of AEW and has remained a babyface in the company since the very beginning. Rhodes‘ is one of the top stars in the company, as he has competed in several memorable matches and praise-worthy segments over the years. Rhodes continues to get polarizing reactions no matter what he does as well.

For the past few months Cody Rhodes has been on the receiving end of a lot of boos from fans. Due to this, many have expressed their desire to have Cody Rhodes turn heel.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the main event featured Cody Rhodes, PAC and The Lucha Bros squaring off against Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo and FTR in an 8-man tag team match.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that many fans in attendance called Cody Rhodes the R-word and started booing him incessantly as well.

“So this is the report from someone who was there. On Cody, live there were actually many, if not more people cheering or booing, but the people booing were really, really loud and obnoxious. It actually did get ugly. There were people who were chanting ret*rd at Cody and people started booing. It was a pretty bad scene during the main event in the crowd.”

Cody Rhodes also teased fans with heel turn after this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. We will have to wait and see what will become of Cody Rhodes in the coming weeks.
