Jonathon Gresham holds Ring of Honor in supremely high regard. ROH is on the verge of going on a hiatus until April 2022. The confidence in the promotion is at an all time low. While many ROH stars have started finding their place elsewhere, Gresham is not one to abandon loyalty.

Gresham will perform on the December 2021 ROH PPV, which is being touted as an end-of-the-era event. He will challenge Bandido for the Ring of Honor World Championship. For the ROH superstar, the promotion holds a lot more value than just a place of occupation.

The ROH superstar talked to Fightful’s Sean Sapp, where he revealed how ROH has been extremely positive in his life. He said that if ROH hadn’t been there for him, he would have gone down a path he doesn’t know he would have loved as much.

It definitely has been a huge part of my life and it changed my life. I was on a different path and a different road, getting in trouble, and then I found Ring of Honor. I was already wrestling, but I found Ring of Honor and I became obsessed. I truly believe to change someone’s direction in life, they have to find something they are obsessed with and that gets them off the bad road. That’s what happened with me and Ring of Honor. To be in a position I’m in now is almost full circle. Win or lose, I have accomplished more than my dream.

Gresham added that you can learn a lot about the possibilities of what lies ahead for you. However, nothing really is decided until the time comes. He added that his pursuit was entirely to bring back Pure wrestling, whether he holds the title or not.

I didn’t really know (Final Battle ROH World Title match). The office likes to let you know of the possibilities, but nothing is in stone because that’s wrestling. For a while, it was, ‘we’re thinking of moving into his direction.’ ‘Great.’ The whole Pure Title thing was happening, I dropped the belt at the time, but I was happy with everything I had done and accomplished my goal, which was to bring Pure wrestling back to Ring of Honor. I believed it could save Ring of Honor. That’s how it was laid out to me, I had lost the Pure Title, they said, ‘this is a possibility,’ and I said, ‘Great if it happens, great if it doesn’t.’ I had a really good run at Pure Champion and I was happy with that.”

The ROH superstar also discussed coming to know about what’s happening with ROH. He said that the phone call was “not a fun one.” While Gresham owes a lot to ROH, he will be venturing on a new adventure with TERMINUS Pro Wrestling.
