Since her surprise return at SummerSlam, Becky Lynch has been working as a heel. At one point, she was the top babyface in the company. It’s been a big change for The Man.

Becky recently talked to the Sports Illustrated Media podcast. She discussed the differences between working as a fan favorite versus being a heel. She says she enjoys the freedom from self-consciousness that comes with being a villain.

“I really like wrestling as a heel. I can do that really well because I’ll bump around like a crazy person and I’m not scared to look like an idiot. When it comes to my promo process, a lot of the time, being a babyface is better because I know what I feel strongly about and ‘this is the truth and what I feel is right.’

When you’re a heel, you also have to tell the truth, but in a different way. Everyone is the hero of their own story. It’s all just a process and I’m enjoying the ride and figuring out the new role and trying to be great at it.”

Becky has said that she takes the art of professional wrestling very seriously. In fact, she’s obsessed. Finding a mastery of a completely different character than the one that took her to the top is a part of that process.

There was a fatal five-way match to determine the #1 contender to Lynch’s WWE Raw Women’s title on this week’s episode. Liv Morgan won, setting up the next feud in Becky’s run as a heel champion. Becky Lynch has held six singles championships in WWE. Liv Morgan has yet to win gold for the company.
