Despite the plethora of professional wrestlers in the industry that have flooded through the threshold of said industry since the Attitude Era and before, there are still just a few names that stand out to the masses and legions of fans as being the best of the best, the cream of the crop, and Kazuchika Okada is certainly one of them.

This is why it’s so special that the rumor mill is spinning overtime right now and many are getting seriously excited. It’s being spoken about that Okada could very well be showing up at AEW and this is obviously huge news.

Of course, many fans would easily remember the astounding matches that the man had with Kenny Omega, specifically the one at Wrestle Kingdom 11, a definitive clinic for the sport. Okada has been wrestling since 2004, and at 34 he is a legend.

With the ‘Forbidden Door’ still open for NJPW and perhaps other promotions moving forward, this would be one cross-over that would turn a few heads. Now talk about that for understatement of the century. Okada in AEW is a license to print money, essentially.

The fact that Okada’s name was dropped on AEW Dynamite this week certainly kicked the rumor mill into high gear. Now AEW fans are waiting for that actual debut to take place. Perhaps it must wait for the world to open up a bit more. Tony Khan praised AEW’s relationship with NJPW during today’s conference call as well. That generated quite a lot of expectation as well.

Who can he face? Who can’t he face, is the better question. Imagine…Punk, Omega, Danielson. The sky is the limit for sure. Judging by last night’s episode of Dynamite on TNT, it seems that this is exactly where they might be intending to go, though.

NJPW’s very own Rocky Romero essentially invited Best Friends to join in with CHAOS, apparently relaying “an invitation from Okada himself.” Tony Schiavone, legendary wrestling analyst, also mentioned Okada’s name during the broadcast, which is quite telling in and of itself. Time will tell, but it seems imminent for now.
