Michael Cole has revealed he’s suffering from hearing loss, saying he can no longer hear properly due to suffering from 65% hearing loss. The issue came to light during the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show this Thursday.

WWE’s lead play-by-play announcer confirmed the fact when he appeared on the podcast. Co-host AJ Hawk had asked McAfee about what he discussed with his SmackDown broadcast partner during the ad break.

His response was: “Mike Cole’s deaf, so he can’t hear a f—ing thing we say.” Cole replied. “I’ve said three words to him in the three commercial breaks. That is true, I’m actually, like, 65 percent hearing loss.”

The 52-year-old explained he how he manages to do play-by-play commentary despite retaining only 35% of his hearing, saying the company has provided with a special hearing aid.

“They make these special in-ear pieces that go underneath my headsets on-air so I can actually hear,” Cole said. He also received praise from his broadcast partner for staying true to his craft. Check out the podcast below. The Michael Cole hearing problem part begins at 1:48:36.
