Petey Williams Trying Out For WWE Producer Role At SmackDown

WWE has a number of talented people backstage and they are adding to that staff. Petey Williams innovated the Canadian Destroyer, a move that is now used throughout the industry. He is now backstage at SmackDown and preparing for a new job.

According to PW Insider, Petey Williams is backstage at SmackDown in Wikes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He is getting a tryout in a producer role.

Former Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Petey Williams is backstage at tonight’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown in Wikes-Barre, PA.  We are told Williams is getting a tryout as a producer for the company, something he has done well in recent years for Impact. 

The 40-year-old wrestling veteran spent a ton of his career in Impact Wrestling. It appears that WWE is giving him a tryout in a role where he could really thrive. For the record, he can still go in the ring. A gig with the WWE producer team would be hard to pass up.

We will have to see what Petey Williams can contribute to WWE’s on-screen product. They are always looking for good minds to help put matches together and Petey Williams could find himself innovating the business yet again.
