Samoa Joe’s accolades as a pro wrestler speak for themselves as he has done all there is to do as far as being an in-ring competitor is concerned. He is a multi-time NXT Champion but had to take time off from NXT television due to injury. It seems he has a high opinion for his matches against CM Punk.

Samoa Joe has competed against the best of the best the pro wrestling world has to offer. This includes CM Punk, with whom he has had some of the best matches in pro wrestling history.

Samoa Joe and CM Punk wrestled two 60-minute draws in Ring of Honor. In their third bout, Samoa Joe finally defeated CM Punk to retain the ROH World Championship.

While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Joe was asked about the matches he had with Punk. The Samoan Submission Machine had huge praise for his trilogy of matches with CM Punk, stating that it was a very important point in his career.

“Tremendously important for a lot of reasons, both from a career standpoint and from a business standpoint. It was an opportunity to kind of explore bounds that, personally, I’d never really explored before, doing the longer format matches doing the 60-minute matches and got me acquainted to what I was able to do and if I push myself and go out there.

It was a great creative effort, you know, anytime you’re in there with Punk, he’s got a tremendously creative mind, great collaborative [effort] going back and forth. It’s always very easy to come up with something great with him. It was a special time and it’s something I really enjoyed, and I definitely do highlight [the trio of matches] as a very important point in my career.”

CM Punk had previously stated that he doesn’t rule out match against Samoa Joe. We certainly wonder if Samoa Joe will ever make his way to AEW and face off against CM Punk as fans would love to see that happen.
