AEW Grand Slam was a smashing success in Arthur Ashe Stadium and the company plans to make it an annual event. They sold out the famous tennis venue, but AEW also wants to establish themselves throughout that market.

While speaking to PW Insider, Tony Khan went into AEW’s plans for the future, particularly in the New York area. He said that they are already planning for a Long Island return in December and there are several stops they want to make in that market before coming back to Queens for another Grand Slam event.

Arthur Ashe Stadium, I would love to return for AEW Grand Slam next year, and I think we’re working towards doing that and I think it’s a great annual event for us. I know that we’ll be back in Long Island in December, and I have plans to return to the market several times between now and the next Grand Slam event.  Even though we may not always run the same venues or in the same exact parts of the New York area, New York-New Jersey area, I should say we, it means a lot to be up there. There’s great fans, and we had great turnout when we ran Newark. We had great turnout at Arthur Ashe and I expect a great turnout in Long Island when we we’re one of the first events at the new UBS Arena.

AEW is outselling WWE in terms of ticket sales and the proof is in their television broadcasts. Obviously, AEW has passionate fans and the company is trying to take their show to every conceivable location that they can to hold an event. Arthur Ashe Stadium will very likely host another Grand Slam event next year, but fans in that area won’t have to wait that long before AEW travels back through their territory.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
