Peyton Royce Asked WWE To Send Her Back To NXT Before They Released Her

WWE decided to released Peyton Royce and Billie Kay at the same time, eliminating the IIconics in one swoop. They left a lot of potential and storylines on the table with that move and Royce even wanted to go back to NXT prior to the company letting them both go.

SB Nation recently spoke to Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay about their exit from WWE. As it turns out, the former Peyton Royce actually asked WWE to send her back to NXT prior to them deciding to let her go.

“I actually asked to go back,” recalls Lee. “It was kind of being looked into, is what I was told. And then, I got released [laughs].”

Peyton Royce was frustrated with her position in WWE. She cut passionate promo about not being used and having more talent than women who were used by the company.

That promo was followed by weeks of sitting backstage without having anything to do. She was eventually released, but it also makes us wonder how things might have been different if WWE agreed to send Royce back to NXT instead.
