WWE had Roman Reigns on RAW this week as a special guest. The Universal Champion doesn’t show up on the red brand every week. He wrestled, and won, two matches. That was not the original plan for the show, and they made that change late in the planning stages.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the decision was made for Big E and Roman Reigns to wrestle twice on the day of the show. Vince McMahon made the call around noon on Monday because Vince McMahon heard how well they were doing on house shows with that match.

The idea of having Reigns and Big E work twice on Raw on 9/20 was decided upon at Noon the day of the show. They had done the match to headline house shows in North Charleston, SC and Augusta, GA the previous two nights and the match got over big in both cities. Vince then decided to make it the Raw main event.

It was noted that the original idea for RAW this week was to hold a six-man tag team match as the main event. That match opened the show instead and then it lead to the main event later on.

Sadly, two appearances from Roman Reigns didn’t pop huge rating. We’ll have to see what WWE tries next week to capture attention following Extreme Rules.
