WWE RAW featured two Roman Reigns matches this week. The main event saw him take on Bobby Lashley and Big E, but there was a reason for that match. Vince McMahon apparently heard good things about what they were doing at house shows and he wanted to see for himself.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up this week’s booking on RAW. He said that they were running that triple threat match at house shows and Vince McMahon changed up the script for RAW to insert that match in.

“So, what happened on the weekend during shows in North Charleston and Augusta, Georgia and what they did was a three way between Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley and Big E, and Vince got the word that the matches were very good, and so at noon the day of the show on Monday, Vince did an about face and moved the six man tag to basically set up this match as the main event, figuring this would be the strongest ratings possible. That’s why it wasn’t advertised and that’s why it was a last minute thing.”

We’ll have to see how WWE builds toward Roman Reigns’ next direction. Big E is also looking for another challenger. This could also lead to Survivor Series where the brands’ top champions will battle in a singles match. Roman Reigns came out on top this week, but you never know what WWE has planned down the road.
