Daffney Unger passed away far too soon. She released an alarming Instagram live video last night where she was emotionally distraught. The former WCW and TNA star spoke about how she was alone and then expressed her wishes that her brain “go to Boston,” presumably so it can be studied for concussion research.

Following a tragic event in her life, Daffney’s mother, Jean Tookey Spruill, released the following statement on Facebook. This was a heartbreaking post to write, and it wasn’t incredibly lengthy. It also expressed how painful this news is to deal with.

It is with great sadness I have to let you know that my daughter Shannon Spruill…Scream Queen Daff, passed away suddenly last night. Absolutely heartbroken

Our thoughts go out to Daffney’s family, friends, and fans at this time. This is a sad reminder that mental health should be taken seriously. Our hope is that Daffney’s story will be the last one like this we ever have to hear about again. RIP Daffney.
