Adam Cole’s WWE contract expired in July, but he signed short extension that saw him through NXT TakeOver: 36. Ringside News exclusively reported that, while a meeting with Vince McMahon did happen, there was no extremely huge push within WWE to keep Cole around. This will likely lead to a big change for the former NXT Champion, and it might happen outside of WWE.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Cole’s WWE contract is 100% expired. He can now field offers from other companies, and he is expected to do so as well. It was also noted that Cole cancelling his Twitch stream on Friday had nothing to do with a meeting with Vince McMahon.

WWE sources also indicated that Cole is expected to field offers, and that he was not at Smackdown last Friday, and was not meeting with Vince McMahon as many had suspected when he canceled his stream.

We will continue monitoring this ongoing situation. Adam Cole is now a free agent and able to do whatever he likes. He could end up in AEW, but you also never know where a talent like Adam Cole will wind up with the forbidden door still wide open.
