Albert Del Rio know how to get heat from fans, and Bret Hart really bought into his bad guy persona. The Hitman gave Del Rio the kind of compliment that really only works in the pro wrestling world, because he wanted to punch him in the face.

While speaking to UnSKripted, Alberto Del Rio revealed something that Bret Hart told him. Hart praised Del Rio for his natural ability to get heat from fans.

“I remember Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart coming and saying this to me, and I feel so lucky that someone like him said that to me. He came to, and he said, ‘Man, you are such a nice guy, but when I see you on TV and you do that smirk, I just want to punch the TV right away. You’re so good as a heel that you should never be a babyface. You’re the best one. You’re the best one as a heel out there,’ and then you know, that was an amazing compliment coming from the best one in the business, one of my idols,” revealed Alberto Del Rio.

There is generally a difference between the characters that Superstars play on television and who they are in real life. Alberto isn’t the same person he is in the ring, but Del Rio also has the ability to know when to turn things up to bring out a heated reaction from fans. That was obviously not lost on Bret Hart.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
