CM Punk made his big debut for AEW last week on Rampage, an appearance that people are still clamoring over to this day. The company knew that his debut was terribly kept secret, but they still wanted to try and keep it as under the radar as possible.

According to Fightful Select, talent was discussing CM Punk’s return to pro wrestling for weeks. They said that Tony Khan never outright told them that Punk was coming until he showed up at the United Center. He was also listed as a “guest.”

AEW talent had obviously been discussing the return for weeks, but all that we spoke to claim they were never told outright by Tony Khan or AEW that Punk would be there until he showed up at the venue. Instead, he was listed and referred to as a “guest.”

CM Punk wasn’t hidden backstage, as he was happy to be there. Punk was also talkative to other talent and seemed to have a great time. Obviously, the AEW locker room was elated to have him around as well.

Punk snapped selfies with AEW staff and members of the roster. He might not have spent quality time with everyone, but the fact is that he will have plenty of time to make up for it in the years to come.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
