WWE brought a house show to Charlotte, North Carolina last night, but one big advertised name was not there. That didn’t stop WWE from continuing their efforts to advertise Charlotte Flair even though she wasn’t going to be there. This was big show to miss as they also announced that the company is coming back to the city for their big New Year’s Eve SmackDown show at the end of the year.

Charlotte Flair was advertised to appear in Charlotte up until the time that the show started. They also did not announce that The Queen wouldn’t be there, but she was absent.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he was told weeks ago that Charlotte Flair requested the time off. It was assumed that this was so she could go to Mexico City and be present for TripleMania. Andrade El Idolo had a huge match against Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship, and she didn’t want to miss it. Obviously, WWE approved her time off, but they didn’t change their advertising either.

Ric Flair did show up on camera during TripleMania alongside Andrade El Idolo, but Charlotte did not. She wasn’t allowed on camera, but she was in the building. Omega won that match and retained his title. All the while fans in Charlotte, North Carolina were left wondering why Flair missed the show.

Charlotte wasn’t the only big name that missed last night’s house show. Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks were pulled dur to “unforeseen circumstances.” Kevin Owens also missed the show, and he dropped nice video message for a couple young superfans to apologize for his absence.
