CM Punk is primed to re-enter the pro wrestling world, but on the Starz show Heels, and as an in-ring competitor for AEW. Ringside News exclusively reported that Punk has inked a deal, and it was later reported that he is “100%” for a Chicago show. That doesn’t mean he’s watching AEW’s competition.

Sunday Night’s Main Event recently welcomed CM Punk on their show for an interview. During that time, Punk addressed his current viewing habits and he admitted that WWE is not on his watchlist. He did have to take in WWE programming when it was part of his job as an analyst for WWE Backstage, but those days are gone.

“No, I had to watch it a little bit when I was an analyst for FOX. But I mean… hmm, how do I say this diplomatically? Um, no, I think they’ve got some people who are super awesome and great in the ring, but you know, nothing grabs me to get me to want to watch.”

“I’m getting ‘a little long in the tooth’ now. And I would much rather uplift and show love to things I like than to tear anything down. You know, you can’t say that what they’re doing is wrong. They are the most profitable they’ve ever been since their inception, so who am I to say… you know what I mean? Like… it’s ice cream, there’s 31,000 flavors, everybody gets their favorite, I just don’t like vanilla.”

We’ll have to see if CM Punk’s diplomacy continues after he debuts for AEW. That is bound to happen eventually, and we’ll pay close attention to see if he joins in All Elite Wrestling’s trend to shade Vince McMahon’s company whenever the mood strikes.
