WWE is putting their NXT brand through a huge change and it appears that is only beginning. Vince McMahon wants return to NXT as a developmental brand, long before it was a third brand for the company with standout Superstars.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how McMahon has a lot of contradicting opinions in his ear. Right now he is returning to a time prior to AEW or even real ROH competition in the pro wrestling space. He wants to see NXT as a brand with people they can cultivate into WrestleMania main eventers, like when Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, and Seth Rollins were on the black and gold brand.

It seems that the ongoing battle for Vince McMahon’s favor will continue, and there are many differing opinions backstage all clamoring for The Chairman’s attention.

“You know there’s powerplay is a weird word. There’s divisive opinions about wrestling among the key people and they are fighting for Vince’s ear, and the is the person Vince is listening to this week.”

It appears that WWE is bringing NXT back to brand with larger and younger guys. The wording given was “no more midgets, no one starting in their 30s. They want people who can be box office attractions and main characters.’

WWE will likely make many more cuts to NXT in the coming weeks. Triple H and Shawn Michaels have nothing to do with those releases, so all they can do is watch their brand change before their eyes.
