TakeOver events in NXT remain one of the highlights of WWE programming in general as they are usually full of excellent matches and memorable moments. TakeOver: 36 almost had a much different location.

The next NXT TakeOver event will be NXT TakeOver 36, which will be taking place on August 22nd. Now it seems WWE had considered a very interesting venue for the event.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE was considering NXT TakeOver 36 in Las Vegas. They considered running it in a major arena so that the event could have a lot of fans who would come to see WWE SummerSlam the day prior to the TakeOver event. However, it is unlikely to happen.

“There definitely was talk of moving Takeover to Las Vegas and running at a major arena with the idea so many fans would be in Las Vegas on Saturday for SummerSlam that they could draw a good crowd for the Sunday Takeover. But thus far it is still a no and with so little time left, those within NXT are under the impression it’s the Performance Center Orlando for the loaded show. The problem is the key officials have to go to Las Vegas the week before Takeover for the tryout camp when they should be finalizing the show, and then fly back.”

NXT TakeOver 36 taking place in Las Vegas right after the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view certainly would have made the show even more memorable, but from the looks of it, that’s not going to happen.
