Update: Cole’s name started to trend in a big way after this news broke. Click here to check out the reactions.

Original: Adam Cole is touted as one of the best in-ring workers WWE has ever seen and remains one of the top Stars in NXT since making his debut back in 2017. His in-ring skills are second to none and he has competed in some of the best matches in NXT’s history.

He has done everything there is to accomplish in NXT and for the past few months, Adam Cole has been engaged in a bitter feud with former Undisputed Era member Kyle O’Reilly.

However, now it seems his contract will be expiring soon. According to a report by Wrestling Inc, Adam Cole’s NXT contract will be expiring this month, right after the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view. It was said that his contract expired after the Great American Bash, but he extended it.

According to Fightful Select, more details regarding his contract were given. It was reported that Adam Cole was willing to work until WWE SummerSlam and re-evaluate things, even though his contract had expired back in July.

“A major WWE contract was expiring recently in that of former NXT Champion Adam Cole. Wrestling Inc reported that Cole’s deal is up after Summerslam However, we’ve learned there was a whole lot more to that than just a contract expiring. There was an assumption internally that Cole’s WWE contract expired in December, but WWE sources have reached out and noted that they became aware that the deal was actually up in early July. Despite that, we’re told that Adam Cole expressed to WWE that he was willing to work through Summerslam weekend and re-evaluate things. WWE sources put over Cole for being open to doing that as opposed to just appearing on another program without any notice by WWE. There was once word within WWE that Cole had actually signed a new deal when the USA Network agreement came to be, but that was not the case, despite the internal rumors.”

There are certainly a lot of options for Adam Cole, should he decide not to re-sign with NXT and go to other pro wrestling promotions. We will keep you updated on this ongoing story.
