CM Punk started to show interest in making a pro wrestling return, and he entered into talks with AEW a couple of weeks ago. Ringside News exclusively reported that Punk has signed with the company, but AEW isn’t admitting to it.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about all of the signs that CM Punk has signed a deal with AEW. The company won’t confirm it, but why would they spoil such a big surprise? At this point, there are certainly enough signs that point to CM Punk and Bryan Danielson both joining AEW very soon. He went on to say that AEW is making moves that wouldn’t be in play unless CM Punk was in the plan.
“I think that everyone knows that unless something falls apart, they’re coming in. Because if these deals were not already close if not already done — and there are signs that both are done, but I cannot confirm because no one in the company will confirm them. There are moves being made that wouldn’t be being made unless Punk was coming in with Danielson. I cannot say I know of any moves being made that confirm Danielson is coming in that I know of.”
It was also said once again that Bryan Danielson was most likely to sign with the company who had the best relationship with NJPW. WWE President Nick Khan was not able to get that deal going, so it appears that Bryan picked AEW over WWE.
CM Punk is 100% confirmed to be at a show in Chicago, but the big question is which Chicago show he will appear at. The company considers Chicago as their second home next to Jacksonville, and they have several exciting plans for that city. We’ll just have to see what they can pull off to surprise fans since we already have such a good idea about who is coming.
