The pandemic has been a terrible time for the entire world, and it’s still not over yet. Cases continue to rise as vaccines go unused. Matt Cardona didn’t have the greatest year on paper, but looking back he is able to see the silver lining of staying at home.

While speaking to Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Cardona discussed his pandemic life and how much he enjoyed himself. It was a terrible situation all around, but the Broski was able to find the joy in sitting by his pool every day and working out in his backyard gym.

“This is going to sound horrible to say, but I loved the pandemic. On paper it was a horrible year for me. I got fired from WWE, lost my dream job, this global pandemic, we had to cancel our wedding. But I loved it because I was home every single day. I never got a vacation, I never got time off, and I had months just off. And there was nothing to do. I couldn’t really go anywhere because we were in the middle of this pandemic, so I just sat pool side every day. We built a little gym in the backyard. I absolutely loved it. And we took the Major Wrestling Podcast and were able to build on that.”

Cardona had a much different experience during the COVID-19 pandemic than most. He still made the most of it, and he was also able to pick up some bookings along the way. Now he is with Impact Wrestling and happy that live fans can return to events once again. We can only hope that the world never experiences another pandemic on the scale of COVID-19, but Matt Cardona might have no issue staying at home for an extended staycation.
