Tonight’s SmackDown is a special dual-site broadcast with matches being broadcasted from Rolling Loud festival in Miami, with the rest of SmackDown taking place in Cleveland, Ohio.

Tonight will feature the return of John Cena to SmackDown after his surprise return to confront Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the end of the Money in the Bank PPV.

In a rematch from last week, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will defend her title against Carmella.

Money in the Bank winner Big E is set to face Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews in a non title match.

Former NXT Superstar Toni Storm is set to make her much anticipated SmackDown debut tonight.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s SmackDown.

SmackDown

SmackDown kicks off live in Cleveland with an appearance of John Cena. Cena runs into the ring to a huge ovation from the crowd. With a mic in hand, Cena says that it’s been one hell of a week. Cena says he was so excited after Money in the Bank that he had to crash Monday night RAW and makes a reference to Roman Reigns. Cena announces that he came back to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Cena says that SmackDown with Roman Reigns as champion “absolutely sucks”. Cena says that every fan deserves to be heard, including fans of Reigns. Cena says that SummerSlam is not just a match for the Universal Championship, it is a chance for everyone to stand up for what they believe in. Cena asks the crowd if they’re on “team jorts” or “team cargo pants” asnd outright asks if they’re on Team Cena or Team Roman Reigns. Cena asks where Reigns is before saying Reigns “can’t see him” and Reigns will realize after SummerSlam that “the champ is here”. Cena calls out Reings and gestures towards the stage to silence before Paul Heyman eventually makes his way out with a mic in hand. Heyman addresses the crowd and says that John Cena has it all wrong. Heyman says that Reigns can’t hear Cena, because Cena is simply not worth Reigns to listen to. Heyman says that he gives Cena his word that he will get an answer to his challenge, but only when Reigns decides to come out to show everyone that “the tribal chief is here” and Heyman mockingly signs John Cena’s theme song as he walks to the back.

After a recap of his return last week, Finn Balor makes his way out to the ring for an upcoming match with Sami Zayn.

Finn Balor VS Sami Zayn

Our first match of the night begins with a lock up and a waist lock from Balor. Zayn hits an elbow to break the hold and goes on the offensive with an armbar. Balor starts to escape and Zayn drops Balor to the mat with a right hand. Zayn throws Balor through the ropes to the outside. Zayn hits a series of right hands on the outside to Balor against the barricade. Back in the ring Balor gets a take down and hits some right hands and stomps on the mat to Zayn. Balor thros Zayn out of the ring and hits a dive over the top rope to Zayn.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns live with Zayn hitting a lariat to Balor and covers for a two count. Zayn applies a headlock to Balor on the mat. Balor rises to his feet but Zayn kicks him back down. Zayn plants Balor with a DDT and Zayn runs for a Helluva kick but Balor springs out of the corner for a sling blade. Balor runs towards Zayn but Zayn counters with a blue thunder bomb and Zayn covers for a two count. Zayn tries an exploder suplex to the corner but Balor resists and Balor breaks free with elbow strikes. Zayn again tries an exploder but Balor rolls out and hits a double foot stomp. Balor goes to the top rope and hits the Coup de Grace and covers for the three count.

Winner: Finn Balor

Backstage Baron Corbin is interviewed and Corbin says that he actually lost money with his crowd funding effort. Corbin says that he thinks his identity was stolen and that he had to ride the bus to get to the arena.

Mr. Money in the Bank Big E makes his way out to the ring with the briefcase in hand.

Back live with Big E in the ring. Big E says that Sunday July 18th was a night he will never forget. Big E talks about the moment he won the ladder match when he is interrupted by Apollo Crews. Crews mockingly congratulates Big E. Crews says Big E’s contract is not like Crews’ title when Dolph ZIggler and Robert Roode make their way out. Ziggler starts talking when Rick Boogs comes out to interrupt them and play King Nakamura out on guitar. After Nakamura’s entrance, Cesaro then comes out and tells Crews “it’s swing time” and a brawl breaks out between all of the previously mentioned wrestlers and Commander Azeez. Cesaro, Nakamura and Big E work together to get Azeez out of the ring. Cesaro goes to swing Crews but Crews is dragged out of the ring just in time to avoid the swing.

SmackDown switches to coverage from Rolling Loud in Miami. Rapper Wale comes out on stage in Miami to hype up the crowd and introduce The Street Profits. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford come out for an upcoming match where Dawkins is announced to compete one on one against Chad Gable.

Angelo Dawkins VS Chad Gable

Our first match at Rolling Loud begins with Otis distracting Dawkins allowing Gable to hit Dawkins in the back of the head. Dawkins is backed into he corner with a series of chops. Dawkins catches Gable in air, Dawkins gets caught in a shoulder submission through the ropes. Gable makes a cover for a two count. Gable hits a northern lights suplex into a pin combo for a two count. Dawkins begins to rise to his feet and Gable hits a German suplex. Dawkins avoids a moonsault and hits a lariat. Gable counters with a rolling Liger kick. Dawkins puts Gable on the top rope and Gable escapes. Dawkins plants Gable with a slam and covers for the three count.

Winner: Angelo Dawkins

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair makes her way out to the Rolling Loud ring immediately after The Street Profits stand in the ring after Dawkins’ victory.

Bianca Belair VS Carmella

SmackDown returns live from Rolling Loud in Miami with our Women’s Championship match. The match begins with Carmella getting a quick roll up for a two count. Carmella hits a kick to Belair’s gut and slaps Belair in the corner. Belair flips out of the corner to hit a drop kick and kips up as Carmella rolls to the apron. Carmella hits a head scissors take down in the ring and Belair springs up to hit a shoulder tackle. Carmella slams Belair to the ring apron and rolls her in the ring for a cover and a two count. Belair hits a knee to Carmella’s spine and rushes to the corner where Carmella drives her to the ring post. Belair hits a top rope cross body and rolls through to hit a fall away slam. Belair hits a moonsault after springing off the ropes and gets a two count. Carmella hits a jaw breaker and tries a suplex that Belair counters to try a delayed vertical suplex. Carmella escapes and hits a face buster and covers for two. Carmella dodges a big boot from Belair. Belair grabs Carmella and hits the Kiss of Death and covers for the three count.

Winner: Bianca Belair

Backstage Shotzi and Nox are seen with Kevin Owens as it appears Shotzi and Nox are having trouble with the tank they drive out to the ring in. Owens leaves and Baron Corbin meets up with him and tries to apologize to Owens. Owens says that Corbin has been a jerk for years and Owens says he can’t be surprised that nobody feels bad for Corbin. Owens takes out his wallet and begrudgingly hands Corbin money after showing sympathy. Corbin appears very grateful for Owens’ actions and words, and then the tank that Shotzi and Nox were on accidentally fires to hit Corbin in the groin. Ziggler and Roode attempt to steal the money from Corbin and Owens comes to Corbin’s rescue with a chair in hand.

Back live in Cleveland, Edge makes his way out to the ring.

SmackDown returns with Edge in the ring. Edge says that the crowd has no idea what those reactions mean to him. Edge says that everyone knows his history and how hard he has worked to get back and to get the fans back. Edge says that he should be standing there as Universal Champion. Edge says that Seth Rollins is the one reason he is not Universal Champion. Edge says that he had the Mysterios watching out for The Usos but he never anticipated Rollins. Edge says this is bigger, Edge says it goes back to 2014 when they first met. Edge says that Rollins didn’t pull the trigger then because he never thought Edge would be back. Edge says Rollins has no idea of the Pandora’s box of pain Rollins opened. Edge says that he learned through the most violent people in this business. Edge references his time in The Brood and The Ministry of Darkness. Rollins comes out to the ring to interrupt Edge. Rollins says “it’s grandpa Edge” in the ring talking about the man that he used to be. Edge tells Rollins to shut up and that he is embarrassing himself. Edge invites Rollins to the ring and Rollins begins to walk down the ramp. Rollins says he was going to come out and talk about how much he despises this city and people like Edge and John Cena, who come back whenever they want and jump the line and get the opportunities over people who have earned them. Rollins says that the more he thinks about it, the more he agrees with Cleveland and how happy he is for Edge to be in the ring. Rollins says that Edge has been such a scum bag to Rollins and that nothing would make him happier than to crush Edge’s dreams. Rollins takes a more serious tone and says that when talking about Edge’s Hall of Fame career, they will talk about the man who ended Edge’s career, Seth Rollins. Rollins says he had the chance to end Edge in 2014 but he hesitated and that when he gets that opportunity again and when he has his boot on Edge’s surgically repaired neck, he will not hesitate to pull the trigger. Edge says that he lied when he promised Rollins he wouldn’t put his hands on him and Rollins and Edge get into a fight in the ring. Rollins gets Edge down on the mat but Edge gets up and hits the lifted DDT and goes for the spear but Rollins is able to escape out of the ring.

Toni Storm VS Zelina Vega

Former NXT superstar Toni Storm makes her much anticipated SmackDown debut. The match begins with a lock up. Storm hits a big kick to Vega’s head and Vega goes to the outside. Storm chases after Vega and Vega hits Storm’s head off the announce table. Vega hits a running knee to Storm’s face and covers for two. Storm hits a big head butt that knocks both women down. Storm gets up and hits a German suplex into a pin for a two count. Vega hits a sunset flip power bomb for a two count. Storm plants Vega with what Pat McAfee calls “Storm One” and covers for the three count.

Winner: Toni Storm

New SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos make their way out as a singles match between Jimmy Uso and Dominik Mysterio is announced.

*Commercial break*

Jimmy Uso VS Dominik Mysterio

The match begins with Mysterio immediately charging at Uso. Uso hits a shoulder tackle and Dominik answers with a hip toss. Mysterio goes to the top rope but Uso grabs the ropes to trip up Mysterio. Uso hits a super kick and covers for two. Mysterio fights back but Uso hits with an enziguri. Uso puts Mysterio in a headlock, Mysterio breaks free and puts Uso in position for the 619 but Jey Uso drags Jimmy out of the ring. Rey Mysterio takes out Jey Uso on the outside and Dominik hits a dive from the middle rope to Jimmy on the outside.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Mysterio hitting a neck breaker. Mysterio hits a dive over the top rope to Uso in the ring. Mysterio goes for the Three Amigos but Uso escapes after the first suplex and hits an enziguri. ysterio hits with the 619 and goes to the top rope, Jey Uso distracts Mysterio but Mysterio still goes for the dive but Uso hits a super kick and covers for two. After a series of reversals, Uso gets a roll up in and Jey hold Jimmy in place behind the ref’s back for the three count.

Winner: Jimmy Uso

Immediately after the match, Roman Reigns makes his way out with Paul Heyman by his side. Reign holds up his Universal Championship as The Usos hold up their SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with Reigns and Heyman in the ring. Reigns tells the Cleveland fans to acknowledge him. Reigns looks into the camera and tells the fans sitting at home to acknowledge him. Reigns says that John Cena has acknowledged him. Reigns tells Heyman that he wanted to acknowledge Cena. Reigns says that Hollywood fooled Reigns and says that Cena came out and did the exact same thing in a nostalgia tour. Reigns says if he wanted that he would just search the internet for 2005 John Cena. Reigns says he has no desire to see John Cena and that they’re not going to see John Cena in the main event of SummerSlam, because Reigns’ answer to Cena’s challenge is no. Reigns stands tall as Heyman holds up the title as Finn Balor makes his way out to the ring to the surprise of Reigns. Reigns says that Balor must be here to acknowledge him. Balor says if Reigns is not interested in Cena’s challenge, maybe he’s interested in Balor’s challenge. Reigns laughs and talks to Heyman. As the crowd chants “Roman’s scared” Reigns says “challenge accepted” Reigns and Balor stare down as SmackDown goes off the air.
