WWE pays attention to the pro wrestling landscape. There were already people in WWE who believed that Daniel Bryan was going to AEW. The writing seemed to be on the wall, especially in the last two weeks after AEW and Bryan started talking. CM Punk is also in play, and WWE believes he is headed to AEW as well.

Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk’s deal with AEW is pretty much done. All they need to do is sign the contract once they are in the same room. It has been agreed upon. The feeling within WWE is that Punk is going to AEW as well.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that there is an internal feeling within WWE that CM Punk has already sign with AEW.

A WWE source has said that internally the belief is that Punk has signed with AEW. There are a number of things going on behind-the-scenes that would indicate that, but nobody in AEW has confirmed it, and of course, they won’t until the decision is made for them to go public with something of that magnitude.

CM Punk’s AEW debut is unknown at this point, but September 22nd’s show at Author Ashe Stadium in Flushing Queens seems to be the location for Daniel Bryan’s debut. It stands to reason that AEW would want to debut CM Punk sooner than that, because their event in Chicago could use a big pay-per-view boost as well.
