Aleister Black had a great run in NXT where he even won the NXT Championship and was a mainstay of the black and gold brand after debuting there in 2017.
In comparison, his main roster run left a lot to be desired and after a lot of shoddy booking decisions, Aleister Black was ultimately let go by the company back in June of this year.
He now goes by the name Malakai Black in AEW. While speaking with Metal Injection, Malakai Black revealed that his wife Zelina Vega started crying after hearing about his WWE release.
“It’s funny, but as soon as I got released, my wife started crying,” Black recalled. “And I actually started laughing because they built me up for 5-6 weeks, they made me come back [to SmackDown], and now they’re pulling me off TV again? I just couldn’t take the whole situation seriously anymore. I realized that this was not worth it anymore. I felt huge relief and just started laughing, and I immediately knew that was the feeling of freedom, and not having to deal with it anymore.”
Zelina Vega made her return to WWE television while Malakai Black is now happy working in AEW. We will have to see how Black will be booked in the company.
