Goldberg returned to WWE and he is facing Bobby Lashley. We should have seen this coming, because it was reported prior to happening on television. Now we are dealing with the backlash for another decision to bring back the former face of WCW.

Andrew Zarian, of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, tweeted out an interesting note after allegedly having a conversation with someone in WWE. The general feeling is that Goldberg is great for the demographic and he boosts viewership. It really doesn’t matter how upset Twitter is about the situation, because they are simply a vocal minority.

Some more notes from my convo this morning with someone at WWE.

Every single analytic indicator that the company uses shows that Goldberg is a big draw for them. “WE” may not like him returning but the majority of WWE’s fans do.

The reality is we are the minority when it comes to Pro Wrestling viewership. Twitter is a fraction of how many people actually follow WWE content.

Don’t shoot the messenger

We’ll have to see if Goldberg puts Bobby Lashley over at SummerSlam. The company only has Goldberg contracted for two matches a year, and it’s unknown if that deal has changed at all. SummerSlam could be a very interesting time in a lot of respects.

What’s your take on Goldberg’s return? Sound off in the comments!
