AEW Star Miro used to work under the name of Rusev when he was in WWE. During his time in WWE, Miro simply did not have a very memorable run for the majority of his time in the company.
Miro would over organically with fans and WWE didn’t like that and would ruin his character by involving him with nonsensical feuds such as the love triangle storyline with his real-life wife Lana and Bobby Lashley.
A lot of his ideas were also rejected as well. While speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Miro’s wife Lana claimed that Vince McMahon turned down Miro and her idea to feud with Daniel Bryan after Miro’s feud with John Cena ended in 2015.
“We went to Vince the following week to pitch an idea to work with Daniel Bryan. And he was like, ‘No, I’m splitting you guys up.’ We were shocked, we had no idea, and he was like, ‘No, no, no, he’s hated and you’re over. They love you. So you can go down to NXT or…’ I was like, ‘Wait, I don’t understand. Can I not be like a b****? I can get hated.’
It is to be noted that Daniel Bryan would have to retire in 2016 due to suffering a series of concussions, so a feud between the two was likely to have been nixed regardless.
Miro is certainly one of the best stars in AEW right now as he is the TNT Champion and it is likely he will be a dominant champion for a long time. We will have to see if Lana will be making her way to AEW and join her husband.
