Tonight’s SmackDown is set to feature Universal Champion Roman Reigns holding a victory celebration tonight after his successful title defense last week against Rey Mysterio inside of the Hell in a Cell.

Also confirmed for tonight’s show is a mixed tag team match with Cesaro teaming up with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair to take on the team of Seth Rollins and Bayley.

Tonight’s SmackDown will feature a match to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match between Big E and Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown

SmackDown begins with a recap of last week’s Hell in a Cell main event that saw Universal Champion roman Reigns successfully defend his title against Rey Mysterio who tapped out to an inverted guillotine submission from Reigns.

Roman Reigns is seen backstage with Paul Heyman. Heyman tells Reigns that Rey and Dominik Mysterio are acknowledging their tribal chief from their hospital beds. Jimmy Uso goes up to Reigns. Reigns asks where Jey Uso is and Jimmy says that he had finally heard from Jey and that Jey told Jimmy that he is not coming back. Jimmy says he has Reigns’ back as family and Reigns asks if Jimmy can be his new right hand man like Jey was, Jimmy answer that he can and Reigns tells Jimmy to prove it.

Live in the ThunderDome SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair makes her way out to the ring for a mixed tag team match to open the show. Belair grabs a mic and claims she will beat Bayley yet again. Belair says that after her victory at Hell in a Cell she has not stopped celebrating. Belair says that Bayley threw everything against her and how she will never forget the pain she was put through, but she can’t stop smiling because she walked out with the title. Belair holds up her title and says she is proud of the woman she sees in the reflection. Belair compares Bayley to a bully and says her title is a reminder to everyone dealing with their own bullies that they are stronger than them. Belair is interrupted by Seth Rollins coming out to the ring. Rollins grabs a mic and says that he came out to celebrate how they, mostly him, overcame adversity at Hell in a Cell. Rollins says he overcame all of the haters when he defeated Cesaro. Rollins says that Belair didn’t dominate like he did and says that she just squeaked by and that “spme would call it a fluke”. Rollins extends his hand for a high five that Belair does not go for. Bayley makes her way out to the ring and says that all she hears is braggig from Belair and that she is not the champion that the people deserve. Belair challenges Bayley to show her what a real champion is and Bayley enters the ring and says that after her fluke victory, Bayley sees her the exact same and Belair answers by knocking Bayley to the ground which leads Bayley to retialiate as Cesaro runs to the ring to attack Rollins. Belair and Rollins are thrown to the outside and Bayley tells Cesaro that this is all her fault and Cesaro assists Belair to drop kick Bayley.

Cesaro and Bianca Belair VS Seth Rollins and Bayley

The match begins with Cesaro in Rollins. Rollins jumps off the second rope but is caught and hit with a back breaker. Bayley is tagged in and Belair enters the ring in accordance with mixed tag rules, after taunting from Belair, Cesaro and Rollins are tagged back in. Cesaro gets the upper hand before being countered and slammed into the corner and hit by a sling blade by Rollins. Rollins puts Cesaro in a chin lock that Cesaro eventually powers out off and hits a series of uppercuts to Rollins before Rollins counters an Iris Whip and delivers a kick to the back of Cesaro. Rollins hits an Irish WHip into a knee strike to the mid section. Cesaro flips out of a suplex attemt to tag in Belair. Belair hits a drop kick with a kip up and hits Bayley with a back breaker and a standing moonsault for a cover and a two count. Bayley rolls outside of the ring and as Belair chases her Bayley throws Belair into the barricade.

Back live with Bayley slamming Belair to the mat after having an arm bar locked in. Bayley applies another arm bar as Bayley slams Belair to the mat right before Belair could reach out and make the tag. Belair hits a back body drop and makes the tag to Cesaro who knocks Rollins to the outside with a kick and Cesaro runs out to hit an uppercut. Cesaro hits a flying cross body and covers for a two count. Cesaro successfully executes the swing and tries for a sharpshooter but is distracted by Bayley leading to Rollins getting an inside cradle for a two count. Rollins hits a strike to the back of Cesaro’s head and covers for Belair to make the save. Cesaro hits a few uppercuts but is met by a big boot from Rollins who makes the tag to Bayley. Belair hits a spine buster that gets a two count. Cesaro and Rollins brawl on the outside, as Belair sets up for the Kiss of Death, Rollins rolls in to cause Belair to lose her balance, Bayley takes advantage and hits a running knee and goes for a cover and gets the three count.

Winners: Seth Rollins and Bayley

Back live with Jimmy Uso asking Paul Heyman what exactly Roman Reigns wants him to do. Heyman answers that Reigns needs a right hand man and that all Jimmy has to do is win a match tonight. Heyman says he will get Jimmy a match.

The ring is decorated with a throne and a crown as it is set to be the coronation of “King Shinsuke Nakamura” and a video package airs showing Nakamura defeating King Corbin on last week’s SmackDown. Rick Boogs stand in the ring with his guitar. Boogs says that he is here to present the one true king of all WWE and Boogs performs Nakaumra’s theme song as Nakamura makes his entrance. Nakamura enters the ring and sits down on the throne as Boogs grabs the crown and places it on top of Nakamura’s head. Baron Corbin, as he is now being refereed to, is interviewed backstage, Corbin asks what’s the point in a very somber tone as he walks away.

Seth Rollins confronts Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville backstage. Rollins alludes to Roman Reigns’ state of the Universal champion address and says that Reigns will address his next challenger, and Rollins tells Pearce that it should be him and that no one on the roster deserves this opportunity more than him. Pearce agrees but says that he is not fully ready to make the decision yet.

Money in the Bank Qualifying Match

Big E VS Apollo Crews

The match begins with a lock up and Big E being backed into the corner by Crews. Crews is shoved to the outside by Big E and Crews slowly get back into the ring and hits a series of right hands. Big E hits a shoulder tackle and covers for a two count. Crews runs out of the corner to be hit with a lariat by Big E. Big E and Crews fight on the apron and Crews hits a super kick and connects with the Death Valley Driver to the apron.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Big E powering out of a chin lock, Big E springs off the ropes but is met with a drop kick from Crews who covers for a two count. Crews counter a belly to belly suplex attempt from Big E with a vertical suplex and cover for a two count. Big E hits three straight belly to belly suplexes and hits a splash after springing off the ropes. Crews counters a uranage and hits a German suplex. Big E goes for a roll up and turns it into a stretch muffler submission hold and Commander Azeez pushes the rope to allow Crews to reach out and force a rope break. Crews goes to the top rope but Big E stops him and climbs to the top rope himself before Crews is able to hit a kick to send Big E to the mat and Crews hits a frog splash and covers for a two count. Crews hits a German suplex and Big E again kicks out at two. Big E rolls to the outside and Crews chases after him and Big E is able to hit the uranage. Commander Azeez slams Big E to the barricade and the referee turns his back just in time to see and send Azeez to the back. Big E hits the big ending in the ring and covers for the three count.

Winner: Big E

Sami Zayn is interviewed backstage. Zayn says that the persecution he has suffered had caused him to see the word as a twisted and chaotic place but after defeating Kevin Owens he sees the world in a much more positive light and he views himself as the world’s messenger of cosmic justice. Zayn is told that he will wrestle Owens again next week on SmackDown in a Money in the Bank qualifying match and Zayn is in a state of shock and disbelief as he leaves the interview.

Sonya Deville comes out to the ring and it is announced that she will announce the first competitor for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Back live where it is shown that Jimmy Uso will be taking on Dolph Ziggler tonight as the match Jimmy has to win to impress Roman Reigns and become his right hand man.

Sami Zayn confronts Adam Pearce and questions why he has to wrestle Kevin Owens again and he suggests to Pearce that he should just be given the contract and not have to wrestle for it. Pearce says he has to earn it and that next week’s qualifying match will be a Last Man Standing match.

Sony Deville announces that the first confirmed competitor in the women’s Money in the Bank match is Carmella. Carmella makes her way out to the ring and thanks Deville and says that in addition to being a two time Money in the Bank winner, she is also the most beautiful woman in all of WWE. Carmella is interrupted by Liv Morgan who questions why declaring herself the most beautiful woman in WWE automatically gets her an opportunity. Morgan says that she beat Carmella last week and deserves to be in the Money in the Bank match way more than Carmella. Carmella says this match is for the real stars and Morgan responds with a punch to knock Carmella to the mat. Deville says that Morgan can prove she deserves it by wrestling Carmella right now.

Liv Morgan VS Carmella

SmackDown returns with the match already underway. Carmella slams Morgan’s head to the announce table. Morgan kicks Carmella into the ring post back inside the ring. Carmella hits a series of elbow strikes in the corner. Carmella hits a corner splash similar to a bronco buster and covers for a two count. Carmella taunts and slaps Morgan and Morgan takes advantage with a kick and covers and Carmella gets her foot on the rope after a two count. Carmella gets a roll up and Morgan kicks out at two. Carmella hits a super kick to Morgan and Morgan is able to roll through on the mat and get a roll up and get the three count.

Winner: Liv Morgan

After the bell Carmella yells to the ring announcer and the ring announcer proclaims Carmella as still the most beautiful woman in WWE.

Jimmy Uso is interviewed backstage and he says that he dedicates his victory tonight to the family and to Jey, an he says that he hopes Roman Reigns is watching.

Jimmy Uso VS Dolph Ziggler

The match begins with with Jimmy uso hitting a shoulder tackle and making a quick cover for a two count. Ziggler runs around and Uso gets out of a waist lock and hits an enziguri and gets the two count. Ziggler drags Uso’s face against the ropes . Ziggler puts Uso in a sleeper hold on the mat that Uso is eventually able to roll out of before Ziggler hits an elbow drop and gets a two count off the cover. Ziggler charges to the corner but is hit with an elbow from Uso. Ziggler is sent over the top by Uso and Uso hits a dive to the outside that Ziggler runs from causing Uso to hit Robert Roode. Ziggler connects with a Zig Zag right on the steel steps which leaves both men down on the outside.

Back live with Uso picking Ziggler up for a potential Samoan drop that Ziggler rakes the eyes to escape. Uso hits a lariat and a Samoan drop and covers for a two count. Ziggler dodges a super kick and hits the Zig Zag and covers but Uso kicks out at two. Ziggler hits a series of right hands but Uso is able to respond by hitting chops. Uso lands a super kick and covers for the three count.

Winner: Jimmy Uso

Roman Reigns is seen watching the replay backstage as Uso goes up to him and asks him what he thinks of his victory. Reigns leaves and Heyman prevents Uso from following. Reigns then makes his way out to the ring with Heyman by his side.

*Commercial break*

Back live with roman Reigns in the ring for the state of the Universal Championship address. A video recap of Reigns attacking both Rey and Dominik Mysterio throughout the last two SmackDown shows is shown. Heyman runs down a list of former challengers who Reigns has defeated and Reigns cracks a smile when Heyman brings up his assault on the mysterios. Heyman says that Reigns has wiped out the entire division and says that Reigns is about to announce something that has never been done on network television before. Reigns takes the mic from Heyman and before Reigns can say a word, Edge mkes his way out to the ring for the first time since Wrestlemania. Edge runs to the ring and gets the upper hand on Reigns. Edge hits a flying lariat to Reigns on the outside and bounces Reigns’ head of the announce table several times and throws Reigns back in the ring. Reigns is able to hit a Superman punch to Edge nd Reigns leaves the ring to grab a chair. Edge hits Reigns with a spear before Reigns get sthe chance to use the chair. Edge places Reigns’ head on the chair and leaves the ring to grab a second chair. Edge returns to the ring but is atttacked by Jimmy Uso. Uso tries to throw Edge to the stairs but Edge reverses and hits an Irish Whip to send Uso to the stairs and then hits a spear to send Uso to break through the barricade. Reigns and Heyman retreat as Edge stands tall in the ring as SmackDown goes of the air.
