Tonight’s SmackDown is set to have a major match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending his title against Rey Mysterio in a Hell in a Cell match, the first Hell in a Cell match on a non PPV show since 1998.

Other matches scheduled for tonight are Apollo Crews teaming with the debuting Commander Azeez to take on the team of Kevin Owens and Big E. King Corbin is also set to take on Shinsuke Nakamura in a match where the winner officially gets King Corbin’s crown that the two have been fighting for possession of for weeks. After the brutal assault on Montez Ford last week by Otis. Angelo Dawkins seeks revenge for his tag team partner as Angelo Dawkins faces Otis in a singles match.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown

SmackDown begins with a recap of last week’s show with Rey Mysterio calling out Roman Reigns for his attack on Rey’s son Dominik Mysterio and Reigns attacking Rey Mysterio as well as hitting a brutal power bomb to Dominik to the outside of the ring.

Live in the ThunderDome the Hell in a Cell structure is shown above the ring. Rey Mysterio makes his way out to the ring. Mysterio grabs a mic and says that any parent watching knows what he’s feeling right now. Mysterio says he will never forget the look on Dominik’s face as he suffered in pain and that he will never forget the man who did this to his son. Mysterio says he want to hear Reigns accept his challenge face to face and calls on Reigns to come out to the ring now. The Hell in a Cell is lowered with Mysterio inside the ring. Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way out with Paul Heyman by his side. Reigns says that he doesn’t want to hurt Mysterio and that this isn’t his fault. He says what he did to Dominik is “PG” compared to what he will do to Rey Mysterio tonight. Reigns asks Mysterio if he’s sure he wants this match and Mysterio responds that he’s never been more ready in his life. Reigns says he tried to be diplomatic and do things Mysterio’s way, but now he will do things hiss way. Reigns hands the mic to Heyman and walks to the back.

Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez VS Kevin Owens & Big E

Before the bell rings, Sami Zayn makes his way out to the ring. The bell rings with Big E and Apollo Crews in the ring. Big E hits a quick suplex and tags in Kevin Owens, Big E hits a big splash and Owens hits a senton and covers for a two count. Big E is tagged in and Crews counters a suplex and makes the tag to Azeez. Azeez hits a knee strike to the mid section and hits a big boot to Big E’s face. Azeez hits a power slam to Big E on the outside of the ring.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Big E breaking out of a submission hold. Azeez regains control with a suplex and Azeez then brings Big E out of the corner with a second suplex. Azeez goes for an elbow drop but Big E rolls out of the way. Crews is tagged in to prevent a tag to Owens. Crews hits an enziguri to Big E. Crews attempts a Death valley Driver but Big E prevents it. Owens is tagged in who hits a swanton and covers for a two count. Crews hits a big boot and springs off the ropes but is hit with a pop up powerbomb from Owens. Azeez runs in to prevent a pin attempt. Azeez tags himself in and takes out Big E on the outside with a lariat. Owens manages to pull the top rope to send Azeez to the outside but Azeez quickly grabs Owens and hits him off the announce table. Owens gets distracted by Sami Zayn but manages to run back into the ring where Owens is immediately hit with the Nigerian Nail from Azeez who covers Owens for the three count.

Winners: Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez

After the bell. Crews and Azeez run back into the ring to hit a second Nigerian Nail on Owens. Zayn runs to the backstage to watch footage on Owens struggling on the mat.

Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are discussing the main event backstage when Kevin Owens approaches them in a fit of coughing. Owens manages to get out that he wants Sami Zayn and Pearce makes it official for a match between Owens and Zayn for Hell in a Cell.

Shinsuke Nakamura VS King Corbin

The battle for the crown begins with a lock up the Corbin quickly turns into a roll up for a two count. Corbin charges to the corner but Nakamura moves out of the way. Nakamura hits a slam off Corbin tied up in the ropes and Nakamura slide to the outside where Nakamura taunts Corbin from the outside as Rick Boogs plays Nakamura’s theme on his guitar.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Crobin having Nakamura in a chin lock in the middle of the ring. Nakamura makes his way out of the hold with a series of strikes but is hit with the deep six from Corbin who covers for a two count. Corbin goes for a power slam that is countered by Nakamura who puts Corbin in a sleeper hold. Corbin throws Nakamura off but Nakamura hits a sliding knee strike and covers for a two count. Corbin hits a German Suplex and covers for a two count. Nakamura hits a series of knee strikes on the mat. Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa but is met with a vicious lariat from Corbin. Corbin lifts Nakamura to the top rope and Nakamura hits a knee strike from the second rope and hits a second one and is caught by Corbin attempting a third one. Nakamura breaks out from Corbin’s grasp and hits the Kinshasa and covers for the three count.

Winner: Shinsuka Nakamura

After the bell. Nakamura sits on the throne and Rick Boogs places the crown on Nakamura’s head.

Backstage SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair is seen walking backstage as a face to face confrontation between Belair and Bayley is promoted.

Bianca Belair makes her way to the ring. Belair grabs a mic and syas it felt great to put Bayley in her place last week. Belair says that this Sunday, Bayley will kiss her championship dreams goodbye. Belair calls for Bayley to come out to the ring, but Bayley is nowhere to be seen. belair compares Bayley to a childhood bully and Belair says that as a kid she realized she was much more than the bullies could ever be. Belair says that she fought to get where she is today, and that people like Bayley don’t define her, she defines herself. Belair says that Sunday she does not just want Bayley in the ring, she wants Bayley inside the Hell in a Cell. As Belair holds her title up high, Bayley finally makes her way out to the ring. Bayley immediately instigates a brawl between the two. Belair quickly gets the upper hand and throws Bayle to the outside and bounces Bayley off the announce table and Belair throws Bayley over the barricade. Bayley grabs Belair by her hair and slams her into the barricade by her hair. Bayley throws Belair back in the ring and plants Belair face first to the mat with a standing bulldog. Bayley stands above Belair with one foot on Belair’s hair and the SmackDown Women’s Championship held up high.

A video package is aired showing Jimmy Uso last week saying that him and his brother Jey were screwd out of the SmackDown Tag team Championships by Roman Reigns, who jimmy says is trying to tear his brother away from him, and the ensuing backstage confrontation between The Usos and Reigns that sees Jey Uso storm off enraged while Reigns emplores Jimmy to make things right.

Reigns is seen backstage where he is approached by Jimmy Uso. Jimmy says he thought about what Reigns said and Jimmy says that Reigns is right about defending the family honor, and while Jimmy may not agree with everything Reigns says, they are still family. Reigns asks where Jey is and Jimmy says that he hasn’t heard from him all week. Jimmy offers Reigns help tonight and Regins says that he needs Jey and that the family is best when they’re all together.

Otis VS Angelo Dawkins

Before the bell, Chad Gable hits a sucker punch and runs outside as Dawkins chases him to be met by a cheap shot from Otis. Otis throws Dawkins shoulder first into the steel steps. Gable hits a flying knee strike from the apron. Otis throws Dawkins into the ring as Gable holds him in place. Otis hits a spinning lariat that Gable immediately combos with a German suplex. WWE officials tend to Dawkins on the outside of the ring as the scheduled match never takes place.

Back live with Roman Reigns seen preparing for the Hell in a Cell main event. Live at ringside the Hell in a Cell structure is seen lowering.

Cesaro is interviewed backstage and is asked if his rivalry with Seth Rollins has gone too far. Cesaro says it hasn’t gone far enough. Cesaro says that Rollins tried to take away everything that he has worked his entire life to earn. Rollins approaches Cesaro and says he is only there to have a conversation. Rollins and Cesaro sit down and Rollins says he just came to tell Cesaro that he disgusts him and that everything Cesaro stands for is a disgrace and does not deserve a single ounce of respect and that at Hell in a Cell he will show Cesaro what he really deserves when he puts Cesaro in his place. Cesaro says that he respects Rollins confronting him face to face, Cesaro says he will see Rollins Sunday and Cesaro shoves Rollins to the ground in his chair.

Roman Reigns VS Rey Mysterio

Our main event Hell in a Cell match begins with Mysterio immediately rolling outside the ring and grabbing a chair. Mysterio lands two chair shots before Reigns catches the chair and tosses it aside. Reigns goes outside to grab Mysterio but Mysterio uses a fire extinguisher to blind Reigns. Mysterio tries to roll Reigns back into the ring. Mysterio runs and hits Reigns in the head with a tool box.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Mysterio hitting Reigns in the ring with a chair. Mysterio places a chair to Reigns’ back and hits a baseball slide. Mysterio drives the chair into the throat of Reigns and places the chair around Reigns’ neck and slams Reigns into the cell. Reigns manages to pull the chair off his head and hid a head butt to Mysterio. Reigns charges for a spear but Mysterio move out of the way, causing Reigns to cash through a table. Mysterio picks up Reigns but Reigns powers out of Mysterio’s grasp and grabs Mysterio and repeatedly slams Mysterio into the cell.

Our main event continues live with Reigns standing over Mysterio in the ring. Reigns delivers a series of knee strikes to Mysterio in the corner. Reigns hits a Superman punch. Reigns goes for a spear but is countered by a drop kick by Mysterio. Mysterio attempt a 619 but is met with a punch from Reigns. Reigns again goes for a spear but Mysterio rolls out of the corner causing Reigns to go shoulder first into the post. Mysterio hits Reigns with a chair and places the chair over Reigns and Mysterio hits a top rope splash with the chair and hits a second top rope splash and covers for a two count. Mysterio goes for a top rope dive but is caught by Reigns and power bombed from the ring to the cell wall on the outside. Reigns rolls Mysterio back into the ring and applies a inverted guillotine submission and Mysterio taps out immediately.

Winner: Roman Reigns

After the match, Jimmy Uso comes out to celebrate and raise Reigns’ hand in victory. Reigns hands his title to Paul Heyman as he approaches Mysterio who barely makes his way up. Reigns applies the guillotine submission again and Mysterio taps out again and Reigns throws him to the mat and holds the title high as SmackDown goes off the air.
