WWE announced that Jimmy Smith will become the new announcer for Monday Night RAW. He will start on the show next week, on May 31st, taking over for Adnan Virk.

It was just announced yesterday that Adnan Virk and WWE parted ways. The show must go on, and the company brought in someone else from outside their ranks. This time they went for Jimmy Smith, someone with Bellator and American Ninja Warrior experience.

Smith commented on the big announcement. Apparently WWE liked his work enough to give him a gig. He is more than happy to take it

Hey guys, well it’s been a busy day. Apparently @WWE liked my work so far. I know I’m stepping into a new world (I WAS a Mr. Perfect and Bruiser Brody fanatic however) but know I’ll do everything I can to honor the athletes and fans. Watch Monday and judge my work for yourself

Jimmy Smith is coming into a hard position, but he is also taking over for someone who didn’t last a month and a half on the job. We’ll have to see how Jimmy Smith does on Monday, but it’s best to keep an open mind. Another person is about to learn how to call pro wrestling in front of millions. Hopefully, Jimmy Smith is doing his homework.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
