Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling and he is proud of his luchador heritage and legacy. As is the custom for luchadors, they are to wear a mask, but Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik Mysterio hasn’t done that when he started being an active in-ring competitor.

While speaking on Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast, Rey Mysterio talked about the possibility of his son Dominik eventually donning a luchador mask for himself.

Mysterio mentioned that Dominik wearing a mask was the idea since the day he started training to become a WWE Superstar but plans were never finalized. Mysterio added that it still isn’t too late for that to happen and said that this time around, Dominik will have to earn the mask now.

“That was the idea from day one that he started training: Dom will continue with this legacy and carry it on. But we never really had the opportunity to sit down and discuss our plans, which now in retrospect we can look at it and say it’s still not [too] late to make things happen like we had it planned out. So, I think Dom’s gonna have to earn the mask now, and he’s on his way. Eventually, one day, maybe the mask will be on.”

Rey and Dominik Mysterio would make history as the first-ever father/son tag team champions in the company after defeating Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at WrestleMania Backlash.

We will have to see how The Mysterios’ tag team title run will be booked as it is likely Roode and Ziggler will want their rematch for the titles. Till then we wonder whether the company will give Rey and Dominik Mysterio a solid run with the Smackdown Tag Team Titles and if Dominik will finally wear a mask as well.
