WWE is a dream destination for many aspiring pro wrestlers and that also includes those who transition from another sport entirely. That is exactly the case for the likes of Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, who transitioned from the MMA world to pro wrestling.

While Shayna Baszler has found a lot of success since debuting in WWE, the same cannot be said for Jessamyn Duke, who was among the many NXT Superstars released on May 19.

Jessamyn Duke had a very bright career ahead of her in WWE, as the company were planning on having her be part of the Four Horsewomen of MMA faction in WWE and possibly feud with the Four Horsewomen of WWE. This would have seen Rousey team with Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke and square off against Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.

Unfortunately, once Baszler was called up to the main roster, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir were simply not used well at all. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Duke actually had suffered injuries that led to her being on the shelf and off NXT television.

“I think that she has been hurt some. The Four Horsewomen thing, which is why she was brought in. Obviously, it was never gonna happen. I thought she was doing reasonably well, but but then she got hurt.”

While it was not stated whether her injuries were the main reason why Duke was released from the company, it has been shown in the past that injury-prone WWE Superstars will inevitably not be used at all and released. We will have to see what is next in store for Jessamyn Duke now that she is gone from WWE.
