During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how much WWE is protecting Bobby Lashley. They had him lose this week, but it was not for the title. It was noted that WWE isn’t booking long term, but this could certainly be a big hint that Kofi Kingston could be moving closer to a WWE Title match.

“They don’t do a lot of long term stuff, but it’s very clear that it’s to protect at all costs. The only way to do a Bobby Lashley/ Kofi Kingston championship match is this. So, now they’ve got a reason to do the match. They wanted to make sure that they don’t hurt Bobby Lashley.”

We will have to see how WWE books this situation. Kofi Kingston has held the WWE Title before and he wants to get that title back. Bobby Lashley is also a protected champion with a lot to lose as well. Hell In A Cell is June 20th, so we will likely see how things pan out by then.
