WrestleMania Backlash saw Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio team up to face off against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

Despite the odds being stacked against them due to an unforeseen attack at the hands of Ziggler and Roode, Rey and Dominik persevered and defeated Ziggler and Roode for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles.

The two would make history as the first-ever father/son tag team champions in the company. Fans and Superstars alike celebrated their triumphant victory and also Rey Mysterio’s wife Angie and daughter Aalyah.

Now Dominik has finally reacted to his first-ever title win in the company, having the honor to be the Smackdown Tag Team Champions alongside his father Rey Mysterio. Dominik took to Instagram and thanked many people, especially his father.

“First, I would like to thank God because none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for him. Second, I’d like to thank VKM for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity to create history. Last, but most certainly not least, thank you @619iamlucha for everything you’ve done: all your guidance, your love and your wisdom, and for showing me how to respect and love this business. I am forever grateful and blessed to call you my dad, and honored to call you my tag team partner! We did it!! Aaaaaannnnnddddd Nnneeeeeeewwwww TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!”

We will have to see how The Mysterios’ tag team title run will be booked as it is likely Roode and Ziggler will want their rematch for the titles. Fans certainly would love to see Rey and Dominik Mysterio have a long run with the titles.
