Cesaro battle Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash. After Cesaro lost the match, Seth Rollins came out to beat him down. That didn’t seem like the beginning of another road back to the top for the Swiss Superman at all.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the next step for the Universal Title. He said that it didn’t seem that the booking was telling any kind of story that would see Cesaro imminently receive another Universal Title match.

“This match was not — that finish was not a finish to build a rematch whatsoever, then again, look at the Daniel Bryan finishes and they did three of them.”

Cesaro got his main event match for the Universal Title, but he fell short. That didn’t stop him from giving his all while selling his arm the entire time. We’ll have to see what WWE has in store for Hell in a Cell on June 20th, but Cesaro might not get another shot at the Universal Title any time soon.

Roman Reigns stated prior to WrestleMania Backlash that he was going to send Cesaro to the back of the line again. It appears he might have accomplished that feat.
