AEW has four Executive Vice Presidents. Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks all share their own responsibilities. There might be trouble in AEW paradise as recent rumor spilled the beans that Cody Rhodes might be at odds with the rest.

Brian Last first noted on the Jim Cornette podcast that there was some tension between the EVPs. Then Fightful Select noted that they had heard the same rumblings.

“I’ve heard the rumors. I haven’t heard that from any talents. I haven’t heard that from any executives, but I’ve heard it’s worth me asking about. It is not something that wrestlers are talking about and it’s not been something I’ve asked about a ton.”

There is apparently way more fire to that smoke. Wade Keller noted on the PW Torch podcast that there will be a book written about AEW some day. That book is likely to include a lot about tension behind the scenes of the company.

He also noted that the honeymoon period was a short one and some people aren’t even talking anymore.

“There’s gonna a book written someday by some of these EVP’s or someone else closely observing and we’re gonna learn about a lot of dysfunction. We’re gonna learn what a very short honeymoon period there was between certain key people in the company, who aren’t even talking to each other anymore. I think we’re gonna find that out. I know there are people in other wrestling companies saying The Bucks and Cody and Kenny it’s not gonna be long at all before they want to have nothing to do with each other. The honeymoon period is going to be short. It seems like it is. It seems like there’s some disengagement and people going off into their own that is showing up in certain ways.”

We will have to see how this situation plays out. It could smooth over, but this kind of tension is never good to have backstage. Pro wrestling needs to be a creative environment and it’s hard to do that if Executive Vice Presidents aren’t speaking to each other.
