WWE is making some big changes backstage and those growing pains have included a couple of releases. Company President Nick Khan is receiving even more control within the company.

According to PW Insider, Vince McMahon is giving Nick Khan even more leeway to form WWE as he wishes internally. It is reported that WWE is preparing itself toward a shift into a mainstream entertainment property.

“We are told by a number of WWE sources that Khan has been given great power and leeway by Vince McMahon to move WWE forward into the future and prepare to bring the company towards a more mainstream entertainment property.”

It was also reported that Nick Khan envisions WWE as “something to similar to Marvel and DC with lots of potential crossover appeal not just for performers but the characters and WWE brand itself.”

WWE’s huge deal with Peacock is worth $1 billion for their streaming rights inside the United States. Those high dollar contracts will continue if they stay in this intended direction as WWE continues its quest to regain a foothold in an always-evolving popular culture landscape.
