Chris Jericho’s Broken Skull Sessions interview drew a lot of attention. He openly discusses AEW on a WWE program which is something fans didn’t expect. That conversation revealed how Jericho felt when the company was just getting off the ground and the amount of responsibility he took upon himself.

During the Broken Skull Sessions, Chris Jericho discussed AEW’s start and how he felt that the company was on his shoulders in the beginning.

“When the opportunity for AEW came around I said, ‘I want to do this, I like being the guy,’ which I had never really been before and that carried over to AEW and it became a big success. The first couple of months was specifically on my shoulders and then suddenly all the other guys came in and we’re one big team. At first, it was on my back. It was my responsibility to carry this company to the Promised Land, so to speak. That’s the way I felt. I felt a real big responsibility for that.”

Chris Jericho is using his veteran knowledge to help a crop of wrestlers who had never received exposure on national television. He explained to the roster how opportunities like this don’t come around all the time, and it might never happen again. The AEW roster made history and they had Chris Jericho leading the charge.
