The pro wrestling world is all about intellectual property nowadays. If you don’t own a name then it’s very possible for a larger organization to swoop in and take that trademark.

Former WWE Superstar Kevin Thorne wants to make sure that nobody uses his WWE gimmick. According to Heel By Nature, he filed a trademark on March 12th for his Mordecai ring name.

This filing was performed under the entertainment services category in the typical way that most pro wrestling trademarks are filed.

Thorne was with WWE from 2006 to 2009 and he used that Mordecai gimmick in WWE’s version of ECW. He didn’t have the longevity that he hoped for in WWE, but the 44-year-old former Superstar can now see what he can do with that name.
