AEW Revolution ended with a dud explosion. That was not the way that AEW planned things, but they still used it in their storylines.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW tested out the bomb “multiple times” before the event, and it “worked great every time.” Then when the time came, it fizzled and no explosion wen to off at all. Duds are always a possibility when dealing with pyrotechnics, and this time it really cost AEW.

The finish was tested out multiple times, and it worked great every time. Then the time it counted, it didn’t. Anyone who has dealt with pyro knows there are duds, and the wrestlers didn’t have the backup plan.

The company explained the dud explosions in the storyline and now they are moving on. It’s not likely that they will try another one of those exploding barbed wire matches for a while.
