Eddie Kingston walked into AEW, and it was like he belonged there. He loves the opportunities has presented him, but he has dream matches elsewhere.

Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions recently spoke to Eddie Kingston about his goals in pro wrestling. He said that Hiroshi Tanahashi is his number one dream match. Then he went on to pay respect to All Japan Pro Wrestling before saying that Jun Akiyama would be an absolute dream match as well.

“Tanahashi is number one.  Stone Cold Steve Austin is my favorite American wrestler.  So, to me, Tanahashi is Stone Cold Steve Austin of New Japan.  He saved that company.  I want to step into an All Japan Pro Wrestling ring because I loved All Japan Pro Wrestling in the ‘90s with the four pillars, Misawa, Taue, Kawada, and my personal favorite of all time, Kenta Kobashi.  But I need this.  It’s not even a want.  I need me vs. Jun Akiyama. That would be the cap on everything.”

That “forbidden door” is still closed between AEW and NJPW, but some AEW stars are allowed to work for New Japan. That is not going to happen during a pandemic, but several stars have that clause in their contracts. You never know if those dream matches for Eddie Kingston will someday become a reality.
